New York Road Runners
With over 95,000 members and serving almost 700,000 runners, New York Road Runners is a New York City-based nonprofit and the world’s premier running organization.
As the producer of 60 annual adult and youth races, including the iconic TCS New York City Marathon, as well as free year-round youth and community programs, the nonprofit has global reach and local impact across the five boroughs and beyond. New York Road Runners races help contribute nearly $1 billion to the city’s economy every year, including spending on accommodations, dining, transportation, and more.

We created a bold new mark for the organization—an abstract, dynamic torch, the beacon of welcome carried by the Statue of Liberty, and a symbol of leadership and achievement.
The torch rendition resonates with the pinnacle of the TCS New York City Marathon identity, aligning the organization with its marquee event, in the same orange and navy color scheme.

The new identity emphasizes the full, meaningful name rather than the initials to increase recognition of the organization and its important work. The wordmark is formed from specially created letters that echo the angles and dynamism of the torch symbol. Pointed letter terminals provide a visual rhythm to the italic, all-capital name. The new mark is the cornerstone of a broad brand system identifying the organization’s various community events, races, and initiatives.
